Decodable Books: Removing the Guesswork to Make Strong Readers

Educators will be able to help students achieve phonics mastery, fluency, accuracy and even confidence by identifying and utilizing quality decodable books. Not all books are created equal, but with a trained eye, we can reorganize our classroom libraries and use our books to support and advance our students.

Elise Lovejoy

Elise Lovejoy is the Founder and CEO of Express Readers, a TK-2nd Grade Foundational Skills and Reading Program. Express Readers' mission is to provide the highest quality of resources and the fullest extent of teacher support, all with the outcome of higher literacy rates and more engaged readers-anchored in the belief that, “Every child deserves to learn to read.” Elise holds a BA and MA in Elementary Education with 15+ years of experience in the classroom, grades K-2nd grade. Frustrated at the lack of phonics books and resources created by educators who understand realistic applications in classrooms, she now works with teachers across the country to create phonics books based on the immense body of research of how students learn to read, with complete stories and a sense of humor.
